I n last year, Audi did better than it did at first fears that sales fell by 5.4 percent to 950,000 vehicles worldwide. 'We had expected worse,' said Stadler. In 2008 Audi had sales of just over a million cars.

Above all, Audi wants to grow profitably

Audi is aiming for sales of more than 90,000 vehicles this year in the highly competitive US market. In 2009 sales fell by 5.7 percent to around 83,000 cars. Audi plans to sell around 160,000 vehicles in the USA by 2015. Audi does not want to grow at any price, but profitably. Stadler affirmed that Audi considers its own plant in the USA conceivable in the long term. A decision has not yet been made.

In December, Audi Billions in investment plans for the coming years concretized. Accordingly, the company plans to invest around 7.3 billion euros from 2009 to 2012, of which 5.9 billion euros will be in new products and future technologies. The automaker plans to expand its model range from currently 34 to 42 models by 2015.
