The 'first one-off', according to Audi, is not only impressive in length - the six-door model has a wheelbase of 4.22 meters and six individual seats. The Audi A8 XXL is 1.09 meters longer than the A8 L in terms of both length and wheelbase. According to the company, there are already further inquiries for corresponding models.

2.40-meter glass roof

For the Audi A8 L extended, the Ingolstadt-based company has the side skirts and the center tunnel of the aluminum Spaceframe frame extended by extruded aluminum profiles. Additional tube profiles in the roof provide transverse reinforcement. A double rear wall separates the passenger compartment from the luggage compartment. Overall, with these measures, Audi wants to achieve the same rigidity in the Extended model as in the A8 L.

From the A-pillar, the entire body of the model has been redesigned, also to maintain a harmonious roof line. The Audi engineers also installed a 2.40-long pane of glass in the roof, which can be darkened with a roller blind for each row of seats. The Audi A8 L extended offers a total of three rows of seats, with two and three electrically adjustable individual seats facing the direction of travel. In the third row there is a continuous center console, a rear seat entertainment display and a cool box. All seats are upholstered in velvet beige leather.

The Audi A8 L extended weighs 2.4 tonnes

A 3.0 TFSI engine also powers the 2,418 kilo Audi A8 L extended 310 hp and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. The A8 XXL should sprint to 100 km /h in 7.1 seconds and run electronically limited to 250 km /h. Power is transmitted to all four permanently driven wheels with 19-inch light-alloy rims in a 15-spoke look by an eight-speed Tiptronic. The braking system from the Audi S8 is on board for deceleration. The company did not provide any information on the price of the Audi A8 L extended.

The Norwegian royal family is rumored on the Internet as the alleged customer for the long Audi A8. The XXL-A8 is to be part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the throne of King Harald V. The XXL Audi has also been spotted in Norway with the registration number 'A-2', which belongs to the royal vehicle fleet.
