Artcurial auction in Monaco: 1.18 million for Grimaldi cars

B The bidders outstripped each other on 34 of the 38 classics on offer each other and gave the Prince and the Artcurial auction house top results. The sales quota of the auction on July 26th is 100 percent, the total turnover is 1.18 million euros - and thus well above expectations. The auction house had assumed between 416,000 and 626,000 euros.

Selling quota of 100 percent

With more than ten times its minimum estimate, the top seller is a Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC, the former prince Rainier re-ordered. The estimate was 15,000 to 25,000 euros, the hammer only fell at 117,600 euros.

A Ford A Roadster from 1930 entered the auction with an estimate of 14,000 to 18,000 euros. It only ended at 62,600 euros. The 1971 Fiat 500 with Abarth tuning also achieved 26,300 euros, more than double its estimate of 6,000 to 10,000 euros. A 1956 Bentley S1 was worth 60,000 euros to its new owner, Artcurial had estimated an estimate of 25,000 to 35,000 euros.

The 1939 Simca 5 also achieved an outstanding figure. The estimate was 8,000 to 12,000 euros, initially at 32,500 euros was the last time a hand was raised to bid.
