O pure ffroad: The Adventure Allrad trade fair wants to do it again this year break records again. For the 14th time this year, the European off-road and outdoor scene will meet for a four-day rendezvous high above the spa town of Bad Kissingen on the 'Kasernenberg'. In contrast to the usual car fairs in sterile halls, the motto of the Adventure Allrad is as always: touching allowed.

Fair Adventure Allrad 2012

The spacious exhibition area, a former army base, brings the atmosphere of an open air festival. The focus here is less on new models from automakers. Even if, with Suzuki and Land Rover, two heavyweights in the industry are to be found in Bad Kissingen, the picture is primarily shaped by suppliers of accessories, outfitters, tour operators and vehicle manufacturers. Nowhere else in Europe can visitors see conversions and equipment from all well-known manufacturers on site, try them out and hold technical discussions with the manufacturers.

Instead of rummaging in the Internet or in colorful brochures, customers can try out the equipment properly. Try lying in rooftop tents, test the latest ATV models on the driving site or compare additional headlights - it's just something else to form your own opinion instead of just making a purchase decision based on the manufacturer's advertising claims. After all, many purchases involve substantial amounts, so nothing can replace the live impression.

Total long-distance travel on the Abenteuer Allrad 2012

Traditionally, the Abenteuer Allrad is also a Meeting of the long-distance travel community. The field of exhibitors from vehicle retrofitters is correspondingly overwhelming, with everything from compact home fit-outs on a pickup basis to 20-tonne expedition trucks. Also well represented are the organizers of off-road trips, who advertise here for customers for their adventure tours.

And here too, the Abenteuer Allrad differs from 'normal' car shows: it is expressly also a sales event. From safari hats to winches, from flashlights to roof racks, you can buy items from various retailers and manufacturers, depending on the load capacity of your wallet, and pack them up straight away. If the set of tires or the ram protection is too big to take home with you, the dealers also offer their exhibition prices with subsequent shipping.

The organizer has also come up with something to keep the spectators entertained. Proven and extremely popular are the self-drive tours on the individual fairgrounds. Large military trucks and off-road vehicles are allowed to accelerate.

Three days: Cooking competition

New this year is the 'Outdoor Cooking Competition': Twelve teams - Professional cooks are expressly not allowed - cook in competition. Adapted to the trade fair motto, the three-person teams first have to use GPS to find the ingredients hidden on the site and then 'conjure up' a three-course menu from them. Under outdoor conditions, of course: Cooking takes place in a pan over an open fire, spectators are expressly welcome. On Sunday the winning team will be chosen by celebrity chef Ralf Zacherl.
