Annual balance remains positive

From January to October 2016, 2,744 people lost lost their lives in road traffic accidents, that is 4.7% or 135 people less than in the first ten months of 2015. The number of injuries increased by 0.8% to around 331,800 during this period.

In total, the police recorded around 2.12 million traffic accidents in the first ten months of 2016, an increase of 2.2% compared to January to October 201 5. Of these, there were around 258,200 accidents with personal injury (+ 0.8%) and 1.86 million accidents with only property damage (+ 2.4%).
