D ie The number of injuries, on the other hand, increased by 4.4% to around 35,100 in October compared to the same month last year. The police registered a total of around 214,900 road traffic accidents in October 2014, a decrease of 1.1% compared to October 2013. In around 187,500 accidents there was damage to property (- 1.8%), in 27,400 accidents people were injured or killed (+ 4, 4%).
Fewer accidents, but more road deaths
In the first ten months of 2014, the total number increased of accidents recorded by the police fell by 0.9% to around 1.98 million compared to the same period last year. These included 1.72 million accidents with exclusively property damage (- 1.5%) and 254,800 accidents with personal injury (+ 3.8%).
In these accidents, 2,815 people have died since the beginning of the year, that is 1, 1% more than in the first ten months of 2013. The number of injuries rose from January to October 2014 by 3.9% to 327,200.
