W ie the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced on Friday (May 22, 2015) that 653 people were killed in road accidents in the first three months of 2015, according to preliminary results. That was almost as many as in the months of January to March 2014.
The number of injuries, on the other hand, fell by 6.2% to around 75,600. In total, the police recorded around 557,300 accidents in the first quarter of 2015, 0.6% more than in the same period of the previous year. Of these, 499,100 accidents (+ 1.5%) were found to be exclusively property damage, and 58,200 accidents (- 6.5%) in which at least one person was injured.
On the development of the number of accidents March made a positive contribution to the first quarter of 2015. The number of fatalities on German roads fell in March 2015 compared to the same month of the previous year by 6.1% to 230 people. The number of injuries fell by 9.5% to around 28,000.
