Accident statistics August 2016: number of road deaths increased slightly

M it around 38,800 more people were injured than in the same month last year (+ 3.7%). The total number of traffic accidents recorded by the police increased by 4.9% in August 2016 compared to the previous year to just under 213,900. The number of accidents with only property damage increased by 5.0% to almost 183,700. The number of accidents with personal injury increased by 4.3% and rose to around 30,200.

Positive trend after 8 months

In total there were 7 in the first eight months of this year , 2% fewer road fatalities than in the previous year: 2,114 people died in road accidents, that is 163 people fewer than in the period from January to August 2015. The number of injuries, on the other hand, only decreased by 0.2% to around 258,900 /p>

The police have been called for around 1.67 million accidents since the beginning of this year, an increase of 2.9% compared to January to August 2015. Of these, around 201,100 accidents involving personal injury (- 0.4% ) and 1.47 million accidents with only property damage (+ 3.3%).
