S since mid-2012 the Italian car maker De Tomaso has been under insolvency administration and since then the banks have also been looking for a buyer for the traditional brand. Chinese investors have long since bailed out, even an alleged buying interest from BMW, which the Bavarians have always denied, has never been confirmed.

Now the Italian sports car manufacturer ATS (Automobili Turismo e Sport), whose roots go back to going back to the 60s and who himself was revived a few years ago, bought De Tomaso.

The sports car manufacturer, which has a mid-engine sports car in its range with the 2500 GT, could also revive the Pantera . However, the 2500 GT relies on a four-cylinder boxer engine and a tubular frame. The original Pantera relied on large-volume V8 engines.
