E s is the perfect winter: weather exactly to the taste of the starters at AvD-Histo-Monte. The first stage led over 484 kilometers from Hanau to Horbourg-Wihr near Colmar in Alsace. But before the stage finish in France, narrow and winding roads in the Black Forest, some of which were covered with snow, were waiting for the teams with their classics. Snow began to fall on the last section - just a little foretaste of what the participants can expect on the way to the finish in Monte-Carlo on Sunday.
Kadett C-Team at the front
On the first day of the 18th AvD-Histo-Monte, Klaus and Ute Schepper crowned it with the day's victory. The couple from Herford starts with an Opel Kadett C Coupé. Also very strong: Jürgen Stehr, the organizer of the EU rally sprint. The rally enthusiast took third place in the intermediate ranking with his Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC. The German record rally champion Matthias Kahle, who has already won the AvD-Histo-Monte several times, 'only' ranks 30th when he first starts in the Skoda 130 RS: His regular co-driver Peter Göbel is intensively involved in the preparation of the AvD-Histo -Monte is involved, he is no longer available as Kahles co-driver for this event.
Extremely difficult conditions await the teams on the second stage on Friday as well. Two of the regularity tests over several kilometers were so extremely smooth that the required cutting speeds had to be reduced.
