D he Volkswagen Group will also open its electrification kit (MEB) to other manufacturers. The costs of e-mobility can be reduced significantly by spreading the MEB as widely as possible and the associated economies of scale. On the other hand, VW could also dictate the standard of e-mobility with this strategy.

e.Go becomes first partner

As worldwide First external partner, the Aachen-based e.GO Mobile AG is to use the electrification kit to bring e-cars onto the market that complement the VW model range. A specific vehicle project is currently being planned. “We are very pleased that the Volkswagen Group has offered us this cooperation. We can contribute the agility of e.GO in product development and our strengths in the construction of small series vehicles based on aluminum profile spaceframes. And the MEB platform will make us even faster, more robust and cheaper, ”explains e.Go boss Günther Schuh.

In the first phase, the Volkswagen Group itself has around 15 million all-electric vehicles on the MEB configured.
