The Lapp Mobility Dock is an adapter that can be used to connect the type 2 cable from an electric car to a household socket.
In many electric cars and plug-in hybrids, the cables carried along take up valuable space in the trunk. In addition to the type 2 cable for connection to public charging stations and wall boxes, a cable for the household socket is usually also carried. The company Lapp Mobility wants to ensure more order in the loading compartment. With the 730 gram heavy and compact (255 x 135 x 105 millimeters) "Mobility Dock" at least the charging cable for the socket can stay at home in the future. With this adapter, the type 2 charging cable can be connected to the house or garage wall.
Up to 2.3 kW charging power
A control device integrated in the charging adapter regulates communication between the car and the adapter. The charging power is set automatically, a maximum of 2.3 kW is possible. The Mobility Dock also keeps an eye on the socket. If an increased temperature is detected at the mains plug, the device automatically reduces the charging power to eliminate the risk of overheating.
You can't buy the charging cable adapter yet, the Mobility Dock is scheduled to go on sale in March 2022. Prices are not mentioned yet.
