Toyota is launching a new model version of the RAV4 with the Adventure. This makes the SUV robust on the outside and classy on the inside.
The current Toyota RAV4 has been on the market in this country for about two and a half years. Now it's obviously time to change the character of the SUV a little in the direction of a "robust off-road vehicle". That is why the Japanese are launching the fifth generation of the trendsetter in the first quarter of 2022 in a new model version, which makes it clear by name that stick and stone can no longer only be taken under the wheels in an emergency.
It's no coincidence that the Toyota RAV4 Adventure ("Adventure") has a two-tone paint job. With the combination of "Urban Khaki" and gray color in the roof area from the A-pillar to the roof edge spoiler, it is intended to evoke one of its great-grandfathers: the Land Cruiser FJ40 (also known as J4) built between 1960 and 1984, which evoked the bush taxi myth established around the off-road vehicle.
New face for the RAV4
But the front view of the RAV4 has also changed: the Toyota emblem has moved from the upper edge to the center of the raised, completely black radiator grille, which now also has two centrally positioned cross braces. The fog lights have black bezels, the skid plates have a silver finish and the 19-inch wheels have a matte gray finish. The latter rotate in widened wheelhouses.
In the interior there are special black seat cushions in imitation leather with deeply quilted backs and seats. Orange decorative seams provide a welcome contrast.
Only available in the 4WD version
The Toyota RAV4 Adventure gets the standard hybrid powertrain in the slightly more powerful 4WD variant. It does without a charging plug, but has an additional electric motor on the rear axle, which doubles the number of driven wheels if necessary. The combination of a 2.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors delivers a system output of 163 kW/222 hp; the power transmission takes care of a continuously variable automatic transmission. The trailer load is up to 1,650 kilograms.
Toyota has not yet announced a price for the RAV4 Adventure. So far, the minimum tariff for the all-wheel drive version ("Comfort" equipment line) is 39,890 euros.
Conclusion
Toyota not only makes the RAV4 an adventurer in name and gives it a somewhat more robust adventure look. Little has changed on the inside, technically nothing at all.
