Polestar will launch three more electric models by 2024. In addition to the SUV Polestar 3 and the Polestar 5 from 2024, there is another SUV coupe, the Polestar 4. Our Erlkönig hunter has now caught a first prototype.
Polestar showed the new three models – still covered – in a first teaser image. The Polestar 4 in the middle is flanked by the Polestar 5 on the left and the Polestar 3 on the right. The coupé silhouette and the higher body are clearly visible. There are strong beads on the bonnet and the side. The sharp edge at the front is also typical of Polestar. The 4 Series should be based on the Polestar 2 and its dimensions should be based on the Volvo C40 sister model.
The first Erlkönig pictures show the Polestar 4 at a very early stage. Nevertheless, the dimensions of the four-door can already be guessed at. Under the nailed body, which of course does not correspond to the standard version, Polestar tests the drive unit and technical components.
Polestar 4 with all-wheel drive
Technically, the Polestar 4 is based on the flexible electric platform SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) - more precisely SEA 2 for models from the B to D segment - from the Chinese parent company Geely. SEA 2 with 800 volts offers a wheelbase between 2,650 and 2,900 mm and has two battery sizes of 86 and 100 kWh.
The ranges are between 460 and 700 kilometers. As with the Polestar 3, the drive is provided by two electric motors, one for each axle.
The Polestar 4 costs around 55,000 euros
Compared to Polestar 3 , the electric SUV coupé will be significantly cheaper. As Thomas Ingelath CEO and chief designer of Polestar told the British Car Magazine, the price of the model is around 55,000 euros. The significantly larger Polestar 3 as a premium SUV the size of a Volvo XC90 costs more than 75,000 euros. The number 4 will roll off the line at the end of 2023 at the Geely factory in Hangzhou Bay, China.
Conclusion
Polestar will launch three more electric cars by 2024. In addition to the Polestar 3, a premium SUV the size of a Volvo XC90, and the Polestar 5 , a sedan in the style of the Porsche Taycan, there is the SUV coupe Polestar 4. The model is said to be significantly cheaper at around 45,000 euros be than the Polestar 3 and represent a competitor to the electric Porsche Macan.
