Nissan is giving the Juke a new drive option. The strikingly designed coupé crossover is the first to feature a hybrid drive. It can now be ordered from 31,090 euros.
Nissan is expanding the drive portfolio of the Juke for the 2022 season with a hybrid drive, but without a plug. The new drive system combines a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 95 hp and 148 Nm of torque with a 50 hp and 205 Nm electric motor. The package also includes a 1.2 kWh battery and a 15 kW starter generator.
Electric as often as possible
The multimodal transmission bundles four gears for the combustion engine and two for the electric drive. The Nissan Juke Hybrid always starts in electric mode. The two electric units synchronize the gear change. Depending on the acceleration and performance requirements, the drive changes seamlessly and without driver intervention between different hybrid types (serial, parallel, power-split). The manufacturer promises fuel consumption that is up to 40 percent lower in city traffic, and the Juke Hybrid consumes up to 20 percent less fuel in the standard cycle. The drive control is designed in such a way that the Juke drives purely electrically as often as possible. Nissan does not say how far he can get. The maximum electric speed, on the other hand, is specified as 55 km/h.
Since there is no plug, the battery is only charged by recuperation when braking. The driver cannot influence the recuperation behavior directly, but only via the Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes and the electric accelerator pedal, with which the Juke can also be brought to a standstill.,
Subtly improved aerodynamics
In addition to the modifications under the Sheet metal, Nissan has also slightly adjusted the hybrid variant optically to improve its aerodynamic efficiency. The radiator grille has a new grid and a new active cover, the rear spoiler has been optimized, new wind deflectors are located in front of the front wheels and the rear axle has been extensively clad. The new hybrid badges on the body and the newly designed, two-tone 17-inch light-alloy wheels are not due to efficiency.
In the cockpit, the displays and controls are adapted to the hybrid drive. The trunk loses volume by 68 liters because of the battery placed there. The Juke Hybrid swallows between 354 and 1,237 liters of luggage.
Customers will only be able to personally convince themselves of the new hybrid drive from summer 2022. The hybrid variant of the Nissan Juke is available in four equipment versions. Prices start at 31,090 euros for the N-Connecta. The Tekna version costs from 34,290 euros, N-Design is available from 34,490 euros and the Premiere Edition costs at least 32,790 euros. Delivery to customers will start in late summer of this year.,
Conclusion
Nissan equips the Juke with a hybrid drive. However, with a battery capacity of just 1.2 kWh, the purely electric range potential is very manageable. And recharging by plug is not.
