However, not in its previous form, which is also known to us as a 3.5 meter short three-door. Instead, the Maruti is to be produced in and for India in a longer version than five-door with an extended wheelbase, reports the online service Autocar India.

Jimny production in India from June

According to the report, Maruti Suzuki will start production of the three-door Jimny as early as June 2020, which is to be manufactured in the Hansalpur /Gujarat plant. Maruti
The Maruti Gipsy based on the former Suzuki Samurai

The Japanese Suzuki Group is the majority owner of the Indian Maruti-Suzuki brand . Maruti is the leading Indian car manufacturer with a market share of over 50 percent. Until 2019 Maruti had still produced the Gipsy, which corresponded to the long version of the Suzuki Samurai we offered until 1998. The Gipsy was last sold in India for the equivalent of around 7,700 euros.

The production of the Suzuki Jimny in Japan has reached its capacity limit due to the high global demand, and the production costs in Japan are considerably higher than in India. That is why the Jimny could in future also come to Europe from Indian production.
