Since the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Stealth, it has been different, it rocked the show stage at the Paris Motor Show. And at the IAA in Frankfurt he got a little brother: the Wrangler Sunriser. But the color of the Stealth is somehow nastier.

Ground clearance instead of spoilers

That this is a European jeep -Showcar, the first turn of the key makes it clear: Instead of a roaring V8, the 2.8-liter turbodiesel comes to life under the new Mopar bonnet. The colossus is surprisingly easy to drive. Flawless straight-line stability without bickering, clean and safe steering feel, both of which are not a matter of course with the huge renovation. The Jeep Wrangler Stealth can be driven like a normal Wrangler, just with the seat position on the third floor. The chassis springs nicely, dry and a good deal stiffer than the series, this sinfully expensive spring /damper combination from Fox does its business. You won't get seasick that easily.

In return, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Stealth shows in an exemplary way what is off-roadwhat really matters is: ground clearance instead of spoilers. He simply runs over rocks lying around. He does not even notice stones in the driveway, which would result in an immediate total loss in a modern city SUV. The almost one meter high MT tires alone provide an extra six centimeters of ground clearance. The chassis contributes ten more.

The diesel engine does not work, the axle ratio (which is installed, the man from Jeep does not want to reveal) fits perfectly the giant rubbers. Go on a big vacation tour with the Wrangler Stealth? At any time and without hesitation. It shouldn't be too tight, because the width of the stealth is considerable. But something else is even more remarkable: the turning circle. In order to keep the 37 mm tires away from the wishbones and the body, it was cut enormously, and the work really starts with turning maneuvers. There are probably few cars that are unsuitable for trial driving, the Stealth likes the large, rough width.

Despite the new courage to such drastic concept cars, fans do not need to hope for such a Mopar monster in the future to be able to order directly from the Jeep dealer. Manufacturer homologation in Europe would go beyond any financial framework. So it remains with individual pieces and for the Wrangler community with tried and tested practice: rebuild yourself, individual acceptance. The parts, after all, can be bought regularly through Mopar, so nothing stands in the way of your personal stealth bomber.
