Hyundai is lowering the price of the K ona Elektro. The 2020 model year of the e-crossover, which can be ordered from October and will be available at dealers at the end of the year, costs 34,400 euros - 200 euros less than before. At the same time, the Korean's safety equipment has improved, and as part of the model refresh, he will receive the now legally required eCall emergency call system. This is activated when, for example, airbags are triggered or the call button above the inside mirror is pressed. Relevant information (time of the accident, direction of travel, sensor and airbag data) is then sent to the emergency call center without any action on the part of the driver.
Otherwise, the Kona Elektro retains its quite extensive basic equipment. The Trend model version has air conditioning and a sound system with six loudspeakers, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels, central locking with Keyless Go, cruise control with speed limiter, a multifunction steering wheel and the Bluelink connectivity package. A lane departure warning system and a reversing camera are standard on board as assistance systems.
New on-board charger for faster charging times
The Kona Elektro is also available in two versions in the 2020 model year. The basic variant has an output of 100 kW (136 hp) and has a 39.2 kilowatt-hour battery that enables a WLTP range of 289 kilometers. The top model offers a 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor and a 64 kilowatt-hour battery that is supposed to guarantee an action radius of 449 kilometers. From now on, an 11 kW onboard charger is installed here as standard, which is intended to reduce charging times by 30 to 50 percent. This loader is optionally available for the basic version.
In the course of the model upgrade, the prices of the stronger model variant will also change. How exactly is communicated by Hyundai currently not.
