Ford unexpectedly lowered the prices of the electric SUV even before the US market launch. The price of the Premium equipment drops by $ 3,000 (currently the equivalent of around 2,564 euros) to 47,000 dollars (40,169 euros). After some back and forth, the top version, First Edition, ultimately goes down by 1,000 dollars (855 euros) - only had F ord their price increased by 2,000 dollars (1,709 euros), now there too a reduction of 3,000 dollars.
Price war with cooperation partner VW
The reason for the reductions is a price war with VW: The Wolfsburg-based company is offering their VW ID.4 for 39,995 dollars (34,182 euros) on, the First Edition starts at $ 43,995 (EUR 37,601). Ford sees the ID.4 of its cooperation partner VW as a direct competitor of the Mach-E. The fact that the first batch of the VW ID.4 was immediately sold out on the US market apparently made those responsible at Ford nervous.
Acceleration values now known
In the course of the price reductions, Ford also has the sprint values of the Mach-E for the discipline zero to 60 miles per hour (97 km /h ) released. With the Select configuration, the Mach-E needs 5.2 seconds (all-wheel drive /AWD) or 5.8 seconds (rear-wheel drive /RWD), with the Route 1 configuration it takes 6.1 seconds (RWD), with Premium 5.8 or 6.1 seconds (Extended Range AWD /RWD) as well as 5.2 and 5.8 seconds (Standard Range AWD /RWD). The First Edition completes the sprint in 4.8 seconds - it always has all-wheel drive and oneExtended range equipment.
No price reductions in Germany
Ford Germany is not planning any price reductions for the Mach-E. In response to our inquiry, the Cologne-based company emphasized that although the VAT savings of three percent that were valid until the end of the year were passed on to customers in full, the Mach-E was otherwise priced in as attractive, taking into account the range and performance, and therefore no reason looks for price cuts. In this country, Ford's electric SUV starts at 46,900 euros, the all-wheel drive version starts at 54,000 euros.
Mustang Mach-E: Ford's first electric SUV
Ford is entering the market for purely electrically powered SUVs with the Mustang Mach-E - with an emotional electric car that is a little bit on the sporty Mustang. The Mustang logo is emblazoned on the front, above which the long front hood begins. This hides a 100 liter additional trunk with its own drain - throwing in wet clothes is no problem. Between 400 and 1,420 liters of luggage space are available under the tailgate.
The side line of the SUV looks like a coupé - but that's a visual trick: the dark roof in the rear area is significantly higher than the color-contrasting one to the rear sloping roof edge. The doors are striking: they no longer have classic handles. The push of a button opens the doors electrically: the front doors can be opened using a fixed hook, the rear doors do not have this hook. At the rear, the Mustang Mach-E looks the most like Mustang because of the very similar lights. However, the lights on the SUV are supplemented by horizontal LED strips.
Large touchscreen and huge soundbar
Inside there is a central, upright 15.5-inch monitor. This is suspended freely but not rotatable. The touchscreen can be pushed into the screen and into theUse the integrated rotating ring on the screen. The driver looks at a small, wide-format display. The speed levels are selected using a rotary knob in the center console. In front of the button there is a large compartment for inductive charging of suitable mobile devices. There is also an optional soundbar from audio specialists Bang & Olufsen that extends across the entire dashboard. The headroom in the rear should also fit seat sizes thanks to the mock coupe roof.
The new Mach-E is coming to Germany in several variants. The basic version is 258 hp and a maximum of 415 Newton meters. Here the engine sits on the rear axle and drives the wheels there. The energy is supplied by a 75.7 kilowatt-hour battery, which enables the Mach-E to have a range of 450 kilometers. The extended range variant is available as a rear-wheel drive alternative. Here is a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 98.8 kilowatt hours on board, which according to WLTP should be enough for a range of 600 kilometers. At 415 Newton meters of torque, too, the power increases to 285 hp, but despite the additional power the performance is the same: It goes from zero to one hundred in under eight seconds, the top speed is limited to 180 km /h> More power, shorter range
The Mustang Mach-E is also available with all-wheel drive in different power levels and with the different battery sizes mentioned. As a standard range model, the electric Ford has an output of 258 hp and can travel up to 420 kilometers. With a greater range, there are 338 hp and the radius increases to 540 kilometers. The maximum torque in both cases is 581 Newton meters. Here, too, the top speed is limited to 180 km /h, but the model accelerates from zero to one second faster.
The top model will be the Mustang Mach-E GT, which has two engines to 465 HP and 830 Nm of torque. The GT should be able to accelerate from zero to 100 km /h in less than five seconds, but it will not be available until later. As with all other versions, quick charges with up to 150 kilowatts should be possible. The system could recharge a range of 97 kilometers within ten minutes. There are flaps on the front of the Mustang Mach-E for cooling the batteriesOpen demand.
These are the prices of the Mustang Mach-E
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is rolling off the assembly line in Mexico and should be available in Germany from the beginning of 2021. It starts with the rear-wheel-driven 258 PS variant for 46,900 euros. Above that are the Mach-E with 285 hp and rear-wheel drive (54,475 euros, range 600 km) and the 258 hp all-wheel drive variant for 54,000 euros. The provisional top model is the First Edition, which costs 66,800 euros in this country and is only available with all-wheel drive, the 338 hp drive and the large battery.
According to Ford USA, the latter should be limited to an unknown number and long since sold out . Now specimens appear again. However, not through official Ford sales channels, but on websites such as Uncrate.com. 'We have teamed up with Ford to again offer a limited number,' it says there. A detailed description of the equipment follows (the cars are only available in the color 'Carbonized Gray'), the price is said to be 59,900 dollars (almost 50,700 euros). According to American media reports, Ford still does not say how many cars are offered there and what number the First Edition limit is exactly. But there should be other such collaborations, for example with the music streaming service Spotify.
