All Volvo cars built from May drive a maximum of 180 kilometers per hour. Before that, we had the chance to buy the X C40 D4 AWD Momentum Pro free of any restriction to test. This shows that it can still be driven completely relaxed even at high speeds. But what about the fuel and maintenance costs?
Our test consumption
Volvo gives the XC40 D4 AWD Momentum Per a WLTP standard consumption of 6.5 liters of diesel. The Swede moves away from this value in everyday life: We have determined an average consumption of 7.7 liters, which causes fuel costs of 7.70 euros per 100 kilometers. The XC40 only consumed 6.0 liters on the eco circuit, while it consumed 7.5 liters on the commuter route. If the Volvo was moved in a sporty way, the Consumption to 10.2 liters. The fuel costs are calculated on the basis of the current fuel price on our partner portal mehr-tanken.de (04/30/2020 /Diesel: 1.00 Euro /liter).

Monthly maintenance costs
Those who drive as resource-efficiently as we do on our eco circuit can reduce fuel costs for 100 kilometers to 6.00 euros. The rather violent pace results in a sum of 10.20 euros. The vehicle tax costs for the new Volvo XC40 342 euros per year, liability insurance is 444 euros. Partial and fully comprehensive insurancebeat with an additional 125 or 545 euros. Monthly maintenance costs of 260 euros are paid by those who drive the Swedes 15,000 kilometers a year. If the mileage is twice as much, the sum increases to 440 euros. We leave out the loss of value in this invoice.

So is being tested
The auto motor und sport test consumption is made up of three differently weighted consumption trips. 70 percent is what is known as 'commuter consumption'. This is a journey from home to work, which measures an average of 21 kilometers. A particularly economical, approx. 275-kilometer eco-lap makes up 15 percent of the ranking. The remaining 15 percent are allotted to the sports driver group. The length is roughly the same as the eco-lap, but the route guidance contains a larger proportion of the motorway and therefore higher average speeds. The basis for calculating the fuel costs is always the price quoted by the portal 'more refueling' from the day the item was created.
The monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear part costs and vehicle taxes for an assumed annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers without Depreciation. The calculation is based on test consumption, a three-year holding period, no-claims class SF12 for liability and fully comprehensive insurance with Allianz, including discounts for garage parkers and the restriction to certain drivers (not under 21). SF12 means a discount rate of 34 percent for liability and 28 percent for fully comprehensive insurance at Allianz.
