Brabus 800 SUV Coupé based on Mercedes-AMG GLE 63

Tuner Brabus gives the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4-Matic+ Coupé much more than just a carbon fiber attachment kit and a massive increase in performance.

Brabus recently unveiled a 1,600 hp SUV tuning duo with conversions based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE and GLS 63 . Now another Brabus 800 – the variant SUV Coupé, to be precise – even completes a trio: The conversion based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4-Matic+ Coupé even increases the combined output to 2,400 hp and also adapts the attachment kit made of carbon fiber and all other modifications suitable for the hatchback model.

The mathematical introduction and the model designation give it away: Brabus has boosted the performance of the four-liter biturbo V8 from 612 to 800 hp. At the same time, the maximum torque increases from 850 to a smooth 1,000 Newton meters. This allows the ex-AMG to push its 2.3 tons from zero to one hundred in 3.4 seconds and to an electronically limited maximum speed of 280 km/h. In the sprint, the production car is four tenths of a second slower, but it keeps up at top speed.

New pair of turbochargers

Mainly responsible for these values is a new pair of turbochargers that can handle up to 1.6 bar boost pressure. There is also an additional control unit that Brabus uses to change the maps for injection, boost pressure control and ignition. In its B40 variant, this electronic plug-and-play solution can also be coupled with the V8 petrol engine on its own. Then the engine generates "only" 700 hp.

As gimmicks that aren't exactly politically correct, the troupe from the Ruhr area also offers the memory system, with which the start-stop system can be permanently switched off, as well as the "Boost Xtra", which causes a distinctive "blow off" when the accelerator is released. -Noise generated. This is complemented by the stainless steel exhaust system with valve control and four titanium/carbon tailpipes, each 90 millimeters in size. According to Brabus, the sound spectrum ranges from a powerful V8 sound in sport mode to a discreet whisper in the comfort setting.

Carbon on all sides

Like the SUV siblings mentioned at the beginning, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4-Matic+ Coupé also has a carbon body kit that gives the front a new spoiler lip with raised side flaps and new side air inlets in the apron modified. One floor up, the new front grille catches the eye, which is also bordered by carbon fiber air intakes on the sides. The part is even illuminated on the driver's side, with which the Brabus 800 SUV Coupé greets its driver.

The design concept continues on the side in the form of carbon wheel arch extensions. The noble lightweight material is also used at the rear: in the lower area as a diffuser, which of course has the appropriate cut-outs for the tailpipes of the exhaust system. A level higher in the form of two vertically aligned air outlets. And at the top as a three-part spoiler, which is waiting at the end of the tailgate to transform the airstream into downforce.

Up to 24-inch wheels

The fact that Brabus thinks big is also clear from the rims, which have a diameter of between 22 and 24 inches, depending on the model selected. The photo vehicle presents the golden mean: the Monoblock Y "Black Platinum" forged wheels rotate in the wheel housings in 10x23 inch format at the front and 12x23 inch at the rear. As always, the right tires in sizes 295/35 R23 and 335/30 R23 come from Brabus partners Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama. Of course, you can also go one floor lower, namely by 25 millimeters, which involves an electronic intervention in the Airmatic air suspension.

You can imagine what's feasible in the interior: leather and Alcantara in all imaginable colours, designs, quilting and perforations, for example. But there are also small parts, such as illuminated Brabus door sills coordinated with the ambient light, new aluminum shift paddles, other door locking pins or sports pedals.

Brabus offers its 800 SUV Coupé either as a complete vehicle or as a partial or complete conversion based on a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4-Matic+ Coupé provided by the customer.

Conclusion

Does a car like the Brabus 800 SUV Coupé fit into the year 2021? Everyone has to answer this question for themselves. However, the 800 hp crusher is definitely a prime example of the fact that tuners can now achieve great leaps in performance with comparatively manageable effort.
