E s was just one It was a question of time until all-terrain vehicles and SUVs combined make up the strongest vehicle segment in Germany - the time had come in 2018. However, this is also due to the fact that the off-roaders are not differentiated into other classes. A large GLE pays into the segment account, as does a compact Kuga, while the S-Class and Focus compete in separate classes for passenger cars.

Be that as it may, the SUVs will continue to gain in importance. Not only in Germany and Europe, but worldwide. Every market watcher mentions similar rates of increase, the somewhat longer-legged and mostly off-road vehicles make normal cars and station wagons look increasingly old. Accordingly, the manufacturers' imagination is spurred on to keep this demand simmering. New models, variants and varieties are constantly appearing on the stage.

SUV coupé, SUV convertible, electric SUV - 2019 has a lot to offer of all of these. The latter topic is especially popular right now. Electric drive and fashionable SUV housing, that is practically the morally legitimate sales guarantee, which is why no fewer than 20 new SUVs with fully or partially electric drive are on the doorstep in the new year. Even industry-Methuselah and terrain icon Jeep will be using plug-in hybrid technology in the future, the first model will be presented in 2019.

In terms of SUVs, there will be plenty to do in 2019, especially for the southern German premium manufacturers. BMW, Audi and Mercedes are bringing dozens of new off-roaders onto the market, and it's going to be a hot year for brand fans. The Stuttgart-based company in particular is stepping on the gas, nine new models from the compact GLA to the massive GLS are just around the corner. It is literally exciting at Audi (six SUV premieres in 2019), where a new electric trendsetter is looking for customers with the E-Tron based on the Q5. BMW (seven new SUVs in 2019) is also electrifying: In addition to the important X1 update, the Mercedes EQC competitor iX3 is due to be presented at the end of the year - comes as an electric SUV and a plug-in hybrid.

Germans and importers withE-SUV

In the new year, the topic of E is also taking off with French manufacturers on Citroën and the premium subsidiary DS is bringing three models with partially and fully electric drive, the DS3 Crossback E-Tense is in direct competition join the Korean E-siblings from Hyundai and Kia.

New engine for the Ford Ranger and, as the icing on the cake, the hot off-road version Ranger Raptor. The pickup fans in Germany can cheer.

However, if all this is not tangible enough, real off-roaders are also around the corner in 2019. In addition to the new Jeep Wrangler, which is debuting with a fresh gasoline engine, this mainly affects the pickup warehouse. Mitsubishi makes the L200 beautiful and gives it a real macho outfit in the new version. It goes without saying that the identically constructed Fiat Fullback should not be missing, which will also be extended in mid-2019. At Ford, it's not so much the look as the content: With a new two-liter diesel, the Ranger, Germany's best-selling pickup, is introducing the subject of downsizing.
