Porsche 911 GT3 RS: Carrera RS package for the USA

For US customers, Porsche is bringing the new GT3 RS closer to the legendary 1972 Carrera RS 2.7 with a design package. The GT3 RS show car in Pebble Beach provided a first foretaste. Now there is a price too.

With the new GT3 RS based on the 992 , Porsche has trimmed the sports car even more radically for use on the racetrack. With the new edition, the two-seater has of course become even more powerful and even more dynamic. Everything as the GT3 RS customers wanted it.,

Porsche USA is now going one better. With a GT3 RS show car for Pebble Beach, the US branch of the sports car manufacturer is showing what an upcoming special model will look like exclusively for the US market. The design package developed by Porsche USA creates a visual link to the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972, which is extremely popular in the USA. As announced by Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), the show car will become the extremely limited Carrera RS Package, which will be offered through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The design package is also intended to celebrate the 50th birthday of the RS 2.7.,

Based on the old RS, Porsche is coloring the rims and exterior mirrors of the new GT3 RS in Phyton Green. In addition, the flanks are adorned with green GT3 RS design stripes. In contrast to the white paintwork, numerous other elements on and in the GT3 RS also have green paintwork. The rear lights and the third brake light are also partially colored green. A fine white line runs around the headlights. Green contrast stitching and white applications pick up the color scheme again in the cockpit. In addition, Porsche donated new door sills.

Technically, however, nothing will change on the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The sports car manufacturer has not yet revealed when the Carrera RS design package can actually be ordered by US customers. However, there is already a price. The GT3 RS with design package costs at least $312,550. The regular GT3 RS starts at $223,800 in the US. So the surcharge is around $90,000. This also includes a specially drawn Porsche Design watch, a custom-made car tarpaulin, also custom-made license plate frames and two 1:43 scale model cars - a Carrera RS from 1973 and a model of the current GT3 RS.,

Conclusion

Porsche is launching a special design package for its US customers that visually brings the new GT3 RS closer to the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972. That should spark desires in the rest of the world. However, the surcharge of around $90,000 is steep.
