Since Volker Mornhinweg has been in charge of the sporty Mercedes subsidiary AMG, thoughts have become freer and goals more ambitious in the Swabian town of Affalterbach. Why - this is the seemingly legitimate question there - should AMG not develop its own sports car? And why shouldn't you, as the adopted grandson of the car inventor, take the liberty of setting a signal in all genres or at least leaving a scent mark?

The high-flyer also looks super sporty

According to the self-confident motto: From where we are, it goes on. In accordance with this newly formulated dogma, the project called Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series was, so to speak, an obvious obligation. The loyal customers probably saw it that way too, who - without having intimate knowledge of the true capabilities of the high-flyer, which cost almost 330,000 euros and was visually emphasized sporty - signed all available sales contracts (350 copies) within a very short time.

Your willingness to take risks in honor: A Mercedes SL 65 AMG that weighs more than two tons and is equipped with every comfort, which can succeed as a perfect quick-change artist and mediator between the worlds both as a cozy luxury coupé and as airy outdoor pleasure to transform it into a super sports car is about as complex as equipping the 20.6 kilometer long Nürburgring Nordschleife with a rain roof and a heated lane. Technically, both are possible - but how? So you just have to want it and be able to afford it.

Consistent focus on sportiness

In order to prove this, the AMG development team around Tobias Moers pulled out the stops that had not necessarily been a priority at AMG until now.
