Kiss frontman Paul Stanley is selling his Corvette Stingray Convertible with VIN 001 - even though he likes the car.
Kiss frontman Paul Stanley is selling a very special Corvette: The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Cabriolet is the first convertible in the model series to be built. So the car has the VIN (vehicle identification number) 001. According to the singer, he knew nothing about the fact that he was getting the first convertible version of the new mid-engine Corvette.
Stanley thinks the car is too good for him
Paul Stanley is also called The Starchild in his band because a black star made up around his right eye is part of his stage outfit. The singer of the rock and metal band Kiss, founded 49 years ago, is a car fan. In a Twitter post about the purchase of his 2020 Corvette coupe, Stanley points out that he's into world-class cars and that the new Corvette is even better than that. However, Stanley seems to feel overwhelmed by the responsibility towards the Corvette convertible with the chassis number 001: "I would like to make it available to someone who might be able to do more with it. Be it to add it to a collection or to drive it," hopes Stanley.
Kiss singer has been a Corvette fan for a long time
The first car that Stanley could afford new was a 1977 Corvette. He already had plenty of money back then: The 1975 for the most part in the Detroit Cobo Arena recorded live album "Alive!" had already bought millions of fans at this point.
Color from Stanley's Corvette Story
The Corvette Convertible for sale now comes with the High Wing option (large rear wing), an aggressive front splitter and equally aggressive side skirts and Edge Yellow brake calipers. The paint is called Red Mist Metallic - the color should resemble that of a Corvette that Chevrolet presented in 2014 at the world's largest tuning fair, the SEMA Show in Las Vegas (SEMA: Specialty Equipment Market Association). Stanley himself had worked on the design of the Corvette.
Guitar is included
The Corvette Cabrio has 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) on the clock. Also included is an Ibanez PS120 Paul Stanley guitar. The singer wants to underline the connection between him and the car and make the buyer happy: "That's really the key word for every collector - joy. And for me, my life has always been about the joy that I give other people can."
Auction in Las Vegas
The Barrett-Jackson auction house is selling Paul Stanley's Corvette Stingray Cabriolet as part of its Las Vegas auction taking place from June 30th to July 2nd (Las Vegas Convention Center - West Hall). There is no minimum bid.
Conclusion
Kiss lead singer Paul Stanley is selling his Corvette Stingray Cabriolet. Without his knowledge, Chevrolet sold him the convertible with the vehicle identification number 001. Stanley is a Corvette fan, car enthusiast and financially very well positioned - nevertheless he is now having this special Corvette auctioned off by the auction house Barrett-Jackson.
Stanley emphasizes that he is happy to make the convertible available to someone who better appreciates the importance of the first car in the series. To underline the connection to him as the first owner, he also packs a guitar signed by himself. Barrett-Jackson has not set a minimum bid for the auction - that shouldn't be necessary either: A Corvette Stingray Cabriolet with the VIN 001 and also from a prominent previous owner should trigger a heated bidding war and thus ensure a decent return.
