R ot the start button on the center console pulsates brightly inside in time with the flickering neon sign outside. Sounds like harmony, but indoors and outdoors could hardly be more different today. Inside: Here, piano lacquer, leather and aluminum are combined to create a wellness oasis for the automotive industry. The driver in the Jaguar XKR cockpit looks outside. Outside: Flashing billboards in all color variations, like on the Strip in Las Vegas. But this is not Vegas. This is a hotspot for hallunkers and shady people. Not at all Jaguar-like, the Jaguar XKR Speed Pack starts its Monday evening trip to Frankfurt in Taunusstraße, the red light district between the skyscrapers of Mainhatten.

Speed Pack can only be recognized by optical retouching

The Jaguar XKR Speed Pack is moving forward like hell. Assuming the rear wheels of the rear-wheel drive vehicle have grip and claw into the asphalt. The sprint from the standing start to 100 km /h is like a game of Vabanques in which the driver with deactivated driving aids often pulls the short straw and produces wisps of Dunlop memory smoke. The hard throttle response makes the project even more difficult. The Jaguar XKR Speed Pack runs to 100 km /h in a maximum of 4.9 seconds.

Jaguar XKR Speed Pack storms up to 280 km /h

Frankfurter Kreuz, nocturnal Autobahn A5, unlimited speed limit: 260, 270, 280. Now the big cat has absolute freedom and uses the speedometer scale full off. Unlike the normal model, the Jaguar XKR with the optional Speed Pack does not stop at 250 km /h, but continues to storm up to 280 km /h. Even at high speeds and bumps in quick succession, the suspension comfort in the Power-Jag remains very comfortable.

Together with the good straight-line stability, the Jaguar XKR Speed Pack is the ideal racing travel companion. For the British high-speed express, the Jaguar developers modified the front splitter and enlarged itRear spoiler to reduce lift. Otherwise, the 6,900 Euro Speed Pack can only be identified by optical retouching.

Jaguar XKR Speed Pack only with steel disc brake system

The side skirts and the diffuser are painted in the same color as the car. Numerous chrome trim parts complement the Jaguar XKR Speed Pack appearance. Red brake calipers are also available as an option. Speaking of brakes. Jaguar continues to rely on steel discs. Ceramic brakes are not an issue for the time being. 'Perhaps there will also be performance brakes in the future,' says Jaguar chassis developer Michelle O'Connor, looking into the future of XKR history.

Practical for the racetrack: In transmission mode S in combination with Dynamic mode, the fast-shifting ZF six-speed automatic keeps the gears. With DSC switched off and in dynamic mode, the Jaguar XKR Speed Pack puts away the well-known manners from everyday life. According to the motto 'Cross is more', the Speed Pack also has a clear tendency to oversteer on the racetrack. Regardless of whether it is after jagged maneuvers while rolling without load or when accelerating out of curves, the big cat wedges its rear end.

Jaguar XKR is not a villain, but always absolutely honest

The Jaguar XKR Speed Pack is not a bastard, but always absolutely honest. A more neutral suspension setup could certainly make it even faster. Anyone who expected an improvement in racetrack performance from the Speed Pack should choose the special Jaguar XKR 75 model with a revised chassis and more power or wait for a possible new edition of the Jaguar XKR-S. For a nightly tête-à-tête in Frankurt, there is hardly a more elegant companion than the Jag with the Jaguar XKR Speed Pack in Polaris White.
