The latest interpretation of the "California Special" comes exclusively as a convertible. To tie it in with the 1968 edition, the new special edition picks up design cues from the original with a honeycomb grille in ebony black and a GT/CS badge in race red and lower side stripes in black, red and gray. The side stripes, embellished with GT/CS logos, also have "California Special" lettering which is almost invisible in low light but stands out clearly in brighter sunlight.
As with the original, the dynamic appearance is underlined by aerodynamic details such as the larger front splitter or the optional side air scoops in the rear area. 19-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels with a dark gray finish also contribute to the exclusivity of the Ford Mustang California Special. The available exterior colors include "Grabber Blue" and "Cyber Orange", which contrast with the black fabric folding top with electrical actuation.,
