Green paint' green hell magno 'means green hell? Not necessarily. Today we are lurking in front of gate 13 of the Nordschleife in Portimao /Portugal instead of in the Eifel. On-site appointment with the M ercedes AMG GT R. And this time we can finally cut a thick slice of the reporting salami. After the trade fair appearance and an exclusive ride in the summer, it's now time to drive yourself. Until it finally starts, we marvel at the secret hero of the GT R. It is round and yellow, is in the cockpit of what is currently the hottest street legal AMG and somehow looks like it has been tinkered with.

Downforce: powerful, fixed rear wing

Adjustable dampers help on bad roads

The GT S attacked some pilots with its very direct, dry turn-in, they say R: you wish we play. It's crazy how precisely it implements commands with its hydraulic steering, remains neutral and reacts to requests from the accelerator. The damper tuning (three-stage selectable) is basically tight, but still comfortable enough to absorb bumps. It is pleasant when the 165,000-euro bumblebee is also supposed to run on the undulating home route. If the asphalt is then slippery, the harder level is allowed, with which the AMG attaches itself even more directly to the asphalt, giving the driver confidence even at high speeds. Sounds sober, of course, because when the four-liter V8 sniffs in air at the front and pours out its exhaust gases through the titanium flap exhaust, that alone raises the hair on the neck. If the transmission now shifts the gears quickly and of course without jerks and the 20-inch models demonstrate their traction strength - boy, boy.
