Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70: Carbon birthday present for the boss

The present is not for Joop D onkervoort intended for the customers of the Dutch sports car brand. Only 70 cars of the JD70 will be built - one for each of Joop's previous years of life.

The JD70 will be a further development of the D8 GTO series. It remains with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine from Audi, which has been increased to 415 hp and 560 Nm torque. It is shifted by a manual five-speed gearbox. Fast switching operations are supported by a double-declutching function. A limited slip differential acts on the rear axle. The new exhaust system with a particle filter for the Euro 6d-Temp exhaust standard ends in front of the rear wheels.

Weighs just under 700 kg

The curb weight is 680 kg. The chassis made entirely of carbon fiber /Kevlar and the body made from the same composite material play a major role in this. The JD70 is said to be suitable for both the street and the racetrack. For lateral acceleration, 2 g should be possible, for longitudinal acceleration 1.02 g and during braking up to 1.65 g. In addition, the Donkervoort relies on Nankang AR-1 tires, adjustable stabilizers at the front and rear as well as a wide-gauge wheel suspension and fully adjustable dampers. An electronic power steering is being installed for the first time in a Donkervoort. In addition, a new front hood, a smoothed underbody and modified fenders ensure more downforce - up to 80 kg at the rear and 50 kg at the front.

The Donkervoort should achieve the sprint from zero to 100 km /h in just 2.7 seconds. The 200 km /h mark falls after 7.7 seconds. WhenThe top speed is 280 km /h.

Donkervoort mentions 198,000 euros as the base price - a sum that can be easily increased with numerous options. The JD70 will be delivered in 2020 and 2021. The special model has been available to order since October 2019.

But it works even more exclusive. The Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 is also available in a Bare Naked Carbon Edition (BCNE). JD70s with BNCE technology are available in a raw, bare carbon look or with a colored finish in a matt or polished version, which underlines the texture of the carbon surfaces. At the same time, it makes the car several kilograms lighter.
