After the ship's sinking
Subscriptions & booklets

Z for the first time The shipwreck in which the freighter Grande America sank on March 12, 2019 is a huge natural disaster. On the one hand, because the 2,200 tons of heavy fuel oil from the tanks of the Italian container ship is polluting the Atlantic coast of France. Also, because it had loaded 100 tons of hydrochloric acid and 70 tons of sulfuric acid, which are now on the seabed at a depth of 4,600 meters. The accident in which all 27 crew members were saved is tragic, but also for numerous car buyers. A total of more than 2,000 cars were on board, most of them older used cars.

Four reproductions for particularly loyal customers

But there were also real treasures loaded: four 700 hp and 285,000 euros expensive Porsche 911 GT2 RS that were on the way to Brazil with the Grande America. That should have triggered something between restlessness and paralysis among buyers, after all, production of the super sports car ended at the end of February. But now Porsche customers can breathe a sigh of relief: As the Brazilian Porsche agency has since confirmed, the manufacturer will produce the four copies of the GT2 RS in April. And precisely in the configuration in which they were once ordered by customers who were classified as particularly loyal. In June they should reach their owners, who are probably doubly lucky.

Incidentally, 33 other new Porsche cars and numerous Audi models from various series were on board the Grande America, which started from the port of Hamburg. The manufacturers have not yet commented on the fate of these cars and their customers.
