N a bravo. With the 510 PS strong C63 S, Mercedes-AMG has just presented the performance king of the sporty middle class, and the Swabians are already being countered. The renowned BMW tuner AC Schnitzer gives the BMW M4 a plus of 80 hp and a distinctive racing character. The C63 S should not be one of the direct competitors. The Schnitzer-BMW is too extreme for that.

AC Schnitzer-BMW M4 is 80 HP more powerful than the series

Although the BMW M4 from AC Schnitzer is now on a par with the C63 in terms of performance S lies, the Aachen interpretation will have its main area of application on the racetrack. The increase in performance also has its share in this. With 80 more horsepower and 45 Nm more torque than in the series, it ensures increased acceleration and pulling power. The tuner has not yet given any details about the exact driving performance.

Nevertheless: The increased potency of the unit mentioned in the BMW S55 should also be heard. AC Schnitzer offers two different exhaust systems for the M4. Both are complete systems with flap control, the motorsport variant also includes a sound pipe.

Salad, flics and a new chassis

There is more to racing suitability than just a few additional horsepower. The Aachen tuner knows this too and has modified the aerodynamics of the BMW M4. At the front, a splitter in combination with double-row flics ensures downforce. A fixed spoiler is emblazoned at the rear and a small spoiler lip on the roof. This means that the Bavarian power coupé is supposed to be faster than its serial brother on race tracks with increased contact pressure.

Compared to this, the AC Schnitzer-BMW M4 is also closer to the asphalt. The racing chassis, which can be adjusted in rebound and compression, brings the body of the M4 around 30 - 40 mm closer to the asphalt at the front, and 30 at the rear. 15 mm). The tuning package for the M4 exterior is rounded off with new 'AC1' type rims, which are available in 19 or 20 inches. The typical AC Schnitzer package is also available for the interior. This ranges from aluminum pedals and a new gear knob to floor mats in a Schnitzer design.

The prices for theTuning

Including assembly, TÜV and VAT, the costs for 80 additional horsepower amount to 4,200 euros. The exhaust system with sound pipe and 'Racing Evo Carbon' covers costs a good 4,000 euros, the adjustable chassis 2,900 euros. The rigid rear wing made of carbon costs around 2,600; AC Schnitzer has not yet been able to tell us the exact price. We'll ask again at the Geneva Motor Show.
