If it was previously sold here as a Demio, it will in future be called Mazda2, as in many other international markets. The fresh Mazda2 was launched on the Japanese market in mid-September 2019

Newly designed front

The new Mazda2 can be recognized by a new honeycomb grille that replaces the old lamellar structure. The front apron has also been redesigned. The side chrome clips around the beads around the fog lights are no longer necessary. They can now be found as slit-shaped LED strips integrated horizontally. The interior has been rearranged in the adaptive LED main headlights. There are also redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels.

New front seats and a newly tuned chassis are intended to ensure greater driving comfort. The driving dynamics systems now have G-Vectoring Plus on board, while the adaptive cruise control has a stop & go function. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should now be part of the basic equipment of the infotainment systems. The City Emergency Brake Assist (SCBS) with pedestrian detection now also works at night and detects vehicles up to a speed of 80 km /h (previously 30 km /h). A lane departure warning system (LAS), a traffic sign recognition system (TSR), the City Emergency Brake Assist Plus with automatic braking intervention when reversing and the 360 ​​° monitor with front parking sensors are also available as options. Matrix LED headlights are also available for an extra charge.

Two petrol engines to choose from

The range of engines includes two 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engines with 75 and 90 hp. It is shifted by a manual six-speed gearbox, the more potent variant can also be combined with a six-speed automatic. Both petrol engines are equipped with a mild hybrid system in the form of a starter generator. In addition, the engines were combined with the i-Eloop brake energy regeneration system.

Prices for the Mazda2 start at 14,190 euros for the 75 hp variant. With 90 hp under the hood, at least 16,890 euros are due. The Mazda2 is available in four trim levels.
