Subscriptions & booklets

A at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, Honda had the cloth from pulled the fifth generation of the small car Jazz. The new Jazz will be coming to Europe from mid-2020. Then it will also come with a gasoline hybrid drive as standard and in two versions. In addition to normal jazz, the Japanese will also compete in a crossover version as a cross star. Identical to the standard model in terms of drive and equipment features, the Jazz Crosstar has more ground clearance, an independent radiator grille design and integrated roof rails. Prices start at 22,000 euros for the new Jazz and 26,250 euros for the new Jazz Crosstar.

Airier and flatter

The silhouette of Jazz has been further developed for the new generation of models. This expresses the design philosophy that was first implemented in the new Honda E electric vehicle and will also shape future Honda models. The A-pillars of the new Jazz are only half as wide as on the previous model and improve the field of vision to the front. Natural, clear lines run along the sides of the vehicle, giving the vehicle a fresh simplicity. The clear lines of the front end can also be found at the rear; with slim horizontal taillights and a discreet roof spoiler. Overall, the new Jazz appears flatter and more dynamic than its predecessor.

Continue with Magic Seats

In the interior, however, the Jazz should have retained the space of its predecessor and its variability. So there are again the versatile configurable Magic Seats in the rear. All seats have been completely redesigned and should now offer more comfort, the center console has an armrest, and the dashboard is dominated by an LED touchscreen that can be operated like a smartphone: the user can swipe through the list of apps and media. In addition to thethe smartphone can also be integrated into the infotainment system; In the new Jazz this is possible for the first time wirelessly via Android Auto and Apple Car-Play.

For the assistance systems, Honda relies on sensing technology, which combines a wide variety of helpers. A new high-resolution camera replaces the previous combination of camera and radar and thus enables even more extensive applications. The vehicle environment is now perceived even better, including the edges of the lane without curbs or markings.

More safety equipment

The pedestrian and cyclist detection of the collision warning system now also works at night without street lights, an additional emergency braking function steps in when oncoming vehicles cross Jazz's path or turn into its lane. Other new functions made possible by the new camera: The adaptive cruise control now allows the vehicle in front to follow the vehicle in front at slow speed in heavy traffic, while the lane departure warning system can now be used not only on multi-lane roads, but also when driving in inner cities and on country roads .

The hybrid drive in the Honda Jazz Honda consists of two compact electric motors, a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, a lithium-ion battery and a direct drive with an intelligent control unit. With an output of 109 hp, the new Jazz accelerates from zero to 100 km /h in 9.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 175 km /h. The average consumption of the entry-level version of the Jazz should be 3.6 l /100 km and the Crosstar 3.9 l /100 km. There are three driving modes available to the driver: electric drive, hybrid drive or motor drive. In E-mode, the electric motor provides propulsion directly with electricity from the lithium-ion battery. In hybrid mode, the combustion engine acts as a generator to supply the electric motor with electricity. In engine mode, the combustion engine drives the wheels directly.
