DR 1.0 EV somehow sounds like a combustion engine, but it is an electric car in the format of a Smart Fortwo with a range of 210 kilometers.
DR Automobiles in Italy is adapting Chinese Chery cars for the European market. The youngest model in the portfolio is a small electric car simply named DR 1.0 EV, which goes back to the Chery eQ1.
Four-seater with a range of 210 km
The two-door car offers four full seats over a length of 3.20 meters. With a width of 1.67 meters and a height of 1.55 meters, it is very compact overall. It also offers a trunk that can be expanded from 110 to 630 liters. Visually, the DR 1.0 EV is not dissimilar to the Smart Fortwo. Like this, the DR also offers an electric motor on the rear axle. Its output of 45 kW and 150 Nm of torque is enough to accelerate the DR to 100 km/h in 17 seconds. The top speed of the DR, which weighs just under a ton, is specified as 120 km/h. With its 31 kWh battery, ranges of up to 210 kilometers according to WLTP should be possible. Then the DR has to go back to the charging station. With a charging capacity of 6.6 kW, full charging takes 6.5 hours. When charging with 40 kW, the charging level increases from 20 to 80 percent in 35 minutes.
In Italy, the DR is only available with full equipment. Then there is air conditioning, an inductive charging cradle, a 3.5-inch digital cockpit, a nearly ten-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple Carplay and Android Auto on board.
Provided with a battery guarantee of eight years or 100,000 kilometers, DR offers the 1.0 EV in Italy from 25,900 euros.
Conclusion
The DR 1.0 EV small electric car from DR Automobiles is just 3.20 meters long and offers four seats and a WLTP range of up to 210 kilometers. The two-door from China costs 25,900 euros from our neighbors with full equipment. It is a bit more expensive than a Smart Fortwo EQ, but offers twice as many seats and twice the range.
