The VW Polo 1.0 TSI Style, which costs 28,030 euros, is ready for a consumption check.
Ever since the Golf in Generation VIII liked to reduce the care with materials and operating skills, a Polo doesn't look any less valuable. And even the fiddly buttons for controlling the automatic climate control are even better than the slide buttons in the Golf. ,
In addition, the Polo brakes excellently, drives almost imperturbably safe. But despite all its sovereignty, it curves around bends with discreet pleasure - because of the precise, direct and feedback-voiced steering. He does the bouncing with care, but stays taut enough not to sway. Also because of the large, comfortable seats and good noise insulation, you can easily tour long distances with the Polo. The only thing that bothers you is the short range: with a 40-liter tank, the 1.0 TSI needs a refueling stop after a good 600 km. And what about fuel and maintenance costs?
Our test consumption
VW states a WLTP consumption of 5.8 liters Super per 100 kilometers for the Polo 1.0 TSI Style. He moves away from this value in everyday life. We have determined an average consumption of 6.6 liters, which causes fuel costs of 12.34 euros per 100 kilometers. The VW consumed 5.2 liters on the eco lap, while consuming 6.6 liters on the commuter route. If the VW was moved in a sporty manner, consumption rose to 8.3 liters. The fuel costs are calculated using the daily updated fuel price on our partner portal tank up more (October 20th, 2022 /Super: 1.87 euros/litre).
Monthly maintenance costs
If you drive as resource-efficiently as we do on our eco tour, you reduce the fuel costs for 100 kilometers to 9.72 euros. The rather violent gait results in a total of 15.52 euros. The vehicle tax costs 99 euros per year for the VW, the liability insurance is 307 euros. Partial and fully comprehensive insurance cost an additional 64 and 377 euros respectively. Monthly maintenance costs of 241 euros are paid by those who drive the VW 15,000 kilometers a year. If the mileage is double, the sum increases to 447 euros. We leave out the loss in value in this calculation.
How to test
The auto motor und sport test consumption consists of three differently weighted consumption runs. So-called “commuter consumption” accounts for 70 percent. This is a journey from home to work, which averages 21 kilometers. A particularly economical, approx. 275-kilometre-long eco-lap is included in the rating with 15 percent. The remaining 15 percent is accounted for by the sports driver lap. The length is roughly the same as the Eco lap, but the route includes a larger proportion of motorway and thus higher speeds on average.The basis for calculating the fuel costs is always the price quoted on the "more tanken" portal on the day the article was created.
The monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear part costs and vehicle taxes assuming an annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers without loss of value. The calculation is based on the test consumption, a three-year holding period, no-claims class SF12 for liability and comprehensive insurance with Allianz, including discounts for garage parkers and the restriction to certain drivers (not under 21). At Allianz, SF12 offers a discount rate of 34 percent for liability and 28 percent for comprehensive insurance.
Conclusion
In the auto motor und sport test consumption, the 28,030 euro VW Polo 1.0 TSI Style with 110 PS ended up with an average value of 6.6 liters Super per 100 kilometers.
