Costs and real consumption
Subscriptions & booklets

D er the technical brother of the Opel Corsa comes onto the market with a smooth-sounding engine. At the same time, it impresses with its lower wind and rolling noise. But what about the fuel and maintenance costs?

Our test consumption

Peugeot gives a WLTP standard consumption of the 208 PureTech 100 5.5 liters. The Frenchman moves away from this value in everyday life: We have determined an average consumption of 6.5 liters, which causes fuel costs of 6.96 euros per 100 kilometers. The 208 consumed only 5.4 liters on the eco lap, while it consumed 6.4 liters on the commuter route. If the Peugeot was driven in a sporty way, consumption rose to 8.3 liters. The fuel costs are calculated on the basis of the current fuel price on our partner portal mehr-tanken.de .

ams
The test consumption consists of 70% of the commuter session and 15% each of Eco and Sport.

Monthly maintenance costs

Those who drive as resource-efficiently as we do on our eco-lap reduce the fuel costs for 100 kilometers to 5.78 euros. The rather violent pace results in a sum of 8.88 euros. The new Peugeot 208 is frugal when it comes to vehicle tax (79 euros per year), and liability insurance is 373 euros. Partial and fully comprehensive insurance add an additional 84 and 457 euros, respectively. Monthly maintenance costs of 184 euros are paid by those who drive the French 15,000 kilometers a year. If the mileage is twice as much, the sum increases to 320 euros. We leave out the loss of value in this invoice.

The Peugeot 208 PureTech 100 Allure costs at least 20,400 euros.

How to test

The auto motor und sport test consumption is made up of three differently weighted consumption trips. 70 percent is what is known as 'commuter consumption'. This is a journey from home to work, which measures an average of 21 kilometers. A particularly economical, approx. 275-kilometer eco-lap makes up 15 percent of the ranking. The remaining 15 percent are allotted to the sports driver group. The length is roughly the same as the eco-lap, but the route guidance contains a larger proportion of the motorway and therefore higher average speeds. The basis for calculating the fuel costs is always the price quoted by the portal 'more refueling' from the day the item was created.

The monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear part costs and vehicle taxes for an assumed annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers without Depreciation. The calculation is based on test consumption, a three-year holding period, no-claims class SF12 for liability and fully comprehensive insurance with Allianz, including discounts for garage parkers and the restriction to certain drivers (not under 21). SF12 means a discount rate of 34 percent for liability and 28 percent for fully comprehensive insurance at Allianz.
