Chevrolet is the big constant in the starting field: After the beginning the development work on the world engine is guaranteed to remain. BMW is also working on the turbo engine that will be used in the World Rally Championship. Whether the TW program will continue will be decided in June.
The marketing department votes for the DTM, the motorsport department advocates the further development of the Customer sport program including development work with the new engine in 2011. The VW Group's interest is underlined by the presence of seven Leon TDIs in 2010. The Spaniards have reportedly already started work on the four-door Exeo model. Two new manufacturers are to come on board in 2011: Honda wants to compete with the new four-door city model on the initiative of the Argentinian market. The financing has been finalized, but Honda Motor Europe has not yet approved it. The negotiations with Ford, who want to homologate the Focus, are well advanced: On March 19, a decisive meeting with FIA President Jean Todt will take place in Paris.
F Toyota and Subaru stand in line for 2012: Subaru wants to join enter the World Cup with the new Impreza, the turbo engine comes from Cosworth. Toyota wants to launch a GT1 car based on the Lexus LFA sports car, as well as a TW World Championship program. Both operations are to be controlled by Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Cologne.
