N after the slowdown in participants in the last race, the situation has changed Half-time a bit calmed down. While there were around 130 cars in the fourth VLN run, there are now 152 cars in the preliminary list of participants. Of these, 8 teams compete in the favorite class SP9, but there are also some candidates in the SP-X and SP7 who could have a say about podium positions.

Audi factory drivers in the old R8 LMS

One of the local heroes for the 4h race is Phoenix Racing, who are returning after a break in the Nordschleife with Christian Mamerow and Frank Stippler. The two Audi works drivers were still in action with the new Audi R8 LMS at the Spa 24h race last weekend and want to attack again in the VLN with the previous model.

The same applies to the Busch twins, who this time receive prominent support from Nordschleife specialist Marc Basseng on their Audi R8 LMS ultra. He already has 26 victories and naturally wants to expand the statistics. The previous tire partner Kumho switched to Michelin customer tires for this event.

The winner of the last race, Walkenhorst Motorsport, should also be on the list. The trio around Michaela Cerruti, Jesse Krohn and Felipe Fernandes Laser ensured a surprise success four weeks ago with the BMW Z4 GT3 with Dunlop tires.

Schubert Motorsport is also back in the Eifel with the Z4. Dominik Baumann, Maximilian Sandritter and Anders Buchardt from Norway take the wheel. The Car Collection team around regular drivers Alexander Mattschull and Pierre Ehret is supported by GT professional Renger van der Zande in the Mercedes SLS. The Frikadelli-Racing Porsche with Sabine Schmitz, Klaus Abbelen and Patrick Huisman at the wheel is one of the old friends from the circle of favorites.

However, the competition from the other classes should not be underestimated. This time Jürgen Alzen's Ford GT will be driven by his brother Uwe together with Dominik Schwager. The last victory was won by Ford at the 2014 season finale. The car is registered in the SP-X class, in which both Lexus racers compete again.

It is also worth taking a look at the driver pairings in the SP7 -Great. Manthey Racing sends the newly crowned 24h Le Mans winner Nick Tandy into the race alongside Christoph Breuer in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR. TheFormer Timbuli teammates Norbert Siedler and Marco Seefried are competing for Rinaldi Racing together in the VLN for the first time.

VLN half-time champions wanted

With the fifth run the fight for the title 'half-time champion' is decided. Dirk and Tim Groneck, who have won all races of the SP3 so far with their Renault Clio, have good cards. They were VLN champions in 2013. They get resistance from Claudius Karch and Ivan Jacoma in the Porsche Cayman from Mathol Racing, who can show the same record in the V6 class. And Fabian Wrabetz and Arne Hoffmeister also managed this feat with their Toyota GT86 from Dörr Motorsport in Cup4.
