
The Porsche 911 GT3 R is the successor to the 9 11 GT3 Cup S an. The development focus for the GT3 R was on improved drivability and easier vehicle handling.
Four-liter boxer with 480 hp
The 911 GT3 R is powered by a four-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with 480 hp . The power is transmitted to the rear axle by a sequential six-speed gearbox.
The development basis for the 1,200 kg light 911 GT3 R is the one-make cup racer Porsche 911 GT3 Cup presented in September. However, thanks to a displacement that has been increased by 0.2 liters, the GT3 R has 30 hp more than the Cup vehicle. Both racing cars are based on the widened body of the 911 GT3 RS road sports car.
Prices from 279,000 euros plus taxes
The anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control and one Electronic double-declutching functions are used to make getting used to the new GT3 racing car much easier than its predecessor and to make the car easier to control even for ambitious amateur racing drivers. The attached fender flares at the front and rear indicate the larger track width compared to the previous model. Like all second-generation 911 models, the new 911 GT3 R also has the distinctive LED rear lights.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R will celebrate its world premiere on January 14, 2010 at the Birmingham Motorshow. The 911 GT3 R will be built in the Porsche motorsport department in the development center in Weissach and will be delivered to customer teams all over the world in spring 2010. The basic price is 279,000 euros plus country-specific sales tax.
