S The 2015 TCR debut season brought us mostly positive headlines. This year the variety of racing cars is even greater. Six different models start in the TCR with the VW Golf GTI, Seat Leon Cup Racer, Honda Civic, Opel Astra, Subaru WRX STi and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. In addition, the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup is allowed to get involved with a special permit.

Another new addition is to follow from the coming season. The new racing car is based on the Kia Cee’d GT and is developed and produced in Austria by specialist Stard. Kia has completely outsourced the project. Stard will also look after the customer teams later.

In a teaser photo, Stard heats up the debut of the Kia Cee’d TCR, which is due to be presented later this year. With thick aprons, large air intakes and extensive wheel arches, the wide-body Kia does not have to hide from the competition. At the front, a sprawling spoiler should minimize lift, while at the rear a large air control unit presses the Cee'd onto the ground.

There is no exact engine specification yet. It is clear that a four-cylinder turbo will work in the TCR-Cee’d. The displacement is measured at 1,750 to 2,000 cm³. This is what the regulations in the touring car series demand. As performance for the front-wheel drive - this type of drive is also anchored in the regulations - Stard is aiming for 330 hp. Shifting is done by rockers on the steering wheel. The Kia Cee’d TCR must measure at least 4.2 meters in length.

In our photo show we show you the first pictures of the Kia Cee’d TCR - and present its competitors.
