D he wishes of the fans have been heard: The Red Bull X1 Prototype is finally on its own wheels. At the same time as the sales launch of the Gran Turismo 5 racing game, the 1: 1 model was unveiled by Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso) on Wednesday (November 24th) in Madrid.
Red Bull is building the GT5 X1 Prototype
Initially only intended as a racing car study for the GT5 game, the spectacular car has now been built in real life at Red Bull in England. However, it cannot yet set new record times on the racetrack. With the engine and the cockpit, two not insignificant components of the ultra athlete are missing.
After all, fans can finally see the Red Bull X1 Prototype in person. At the first presentation in mid-October, the GT5 developers had to help themselves with screenshots and computer graphics. However, that was enough to get racing fans all over the world excited.
Racing cars without rules and cost limits
The X1 project is radical in its approach: Red Bull design guru Adrian Newey was allowed to work together develop a spectacular racing car with the software company from Sony. Without looking at costs and rules, the engineer was able to install everything that would improve the performance of the car on the racetrack.
In the game, the carbon racer is powered by a three-liter V6 direct injection, the thanks to twin turbo support, it generates 1,483 hp and 714 Newton meters of torque (at 15,000 rpm). Thanks to an empty weight of only 545 kilograms, the simulation calculated a top speed of 450 km /h.
The acceleration values are even more impressive. 1.4 seconds pass from zero to 100 km /h, 200 are reached in just under three seconds and after 6.1 seconds the speedometer needle of the X1 Prototype is already at 320 km /h. The human body can hardly bear any more. Sebastian Vettel pulverized the Formula 1 lap records on the Nürburgring and in Suzuka in a first test in the game.
Red Bull X1 Prototype should drive
Although the Red Bull X1 Prototype is finally on If the bike is standing, it will probably take some time before it can be used on the racetrack. According to rumors, however, a drive for the car is already being worked on. However, it is more than questionable for cost reasons whether the engine will then reach almost 1,500 hp. In order to move quickly across the racetrack, it shouldare enough.
The model of the Red Bull X1 prototype presented in Madrid will initially be sent on a European tour. Auto shows, game events and promo events are on the agenda. The model is then shipped to Hangar 7 in Salzburg, where it has a prominent place of honor alongside aircraft and Formula 1 cars.
Gran Turismo 5 with X1 Challenge
In the new GT5 game the X1 Protype will be the fastest of a total of around 1,000 vehicles. The so-called 'X1 Challenge' feature was built especially for him, in which a virtual racing pilot gives driving lessons in the racing car.
