Dubai 24h Race 2010: Holzer wins Dubai 24h Race

F ure Holzer it was the first triumph in a 24h Run. 'I'm totally happy,' said Marco Holzer as he climbed out of the cockpit with soaking wet overalls at the finish of the heat race. 'Driving the car across the finish line and seeing all the cheering people at the pit wall was a crazy feeling.'

Together with his team-mates and Porsche works driver Patrick Pilet and the Frenchman Raymond Narac, the youngster completed the desert classic in a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for the French team IMSA Performance Matmut. The hunt twice around the clock went without any major problems for the team. Only at the beginning of the race did a collision with a slower vehicle cause heart palpitations. However, only the rear axle was slightly damaged.

Pressure for Holzer from two BMW Z4s

The 24h race in Dubai was a stroll for Holzer and his teammates but still not. The competition from BMW made pressure, even if they came from two different teams. The Japanese team Nobuteru Taniguchi, Masataka Yanigada, Farique Hairuman, Hiroki Yoshida with the German Johannes Stuck was always on the Porsche's heels, but was never able to attack and came second.

The BMW Z4 in the application from Al Faisal Racing, which was used by Schubert Motors, finished the race in third place with the Germans Claudia Hürtgen and Marko Hartung at the wheel. Last year's winners from Land Motorsport took fourth place with the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup.
