On Thursday, Maro Engel sat for the first time during the tests in the M ercedes and took over the 2008 car that David Coulthard drove on Wednesday. After the test, Coulthard traveled to Melbourne for the Australian GP in his role as Red Bull advisor.
Times not on the level of the previous day
The times stayed below those of the previous day. Overall, however, the cars were closer together. Engels best time was stopped with 1.28,949 and was around three tenths above Prémat's record on Wednesday.
Timo Scheider was only eight thousandths of a second behind Engel (Audi ), who was still at the top of the timesheet at noon. Brand colleague Mattias Ekström followed in third place, 43 thousandths of a second behind the fastest time.
Good performance by DTM newcomer Miguel Molina
The DTM's time is remarkable - Newcomer Miguel Molina, who in fourth place was only around a tenth behind Ekström. The Spaniard joined his Audi colleagues on Thursday and had the most laps on his account with 120 laps. For the young Spaniard, who was previously involved in formula racing, every kilometer in the DTM Audi now counts in order to gain experience and be well prepared for the season opener in Hockenheim.
Mike Rockenfeller and Katherine also exchanged at Audi Lay the spots with Alexandre Prémat and Markus Winkelhock. The weather was gracious with around 18 degrees and sunshine.
