The spectators at the Hockenheimring during the second practice session of the DTM couldn't complain about a lack of entertainment. They wrapped themselves in their rain jackets and hid under their umbrellas, but in return they were offered a spectacular DTM program. In addition to title contender Bruno Spengler, David Coulthard, Oliver Jarvis, Jamie Green and CongFu Cheng also sailed off the track. Cheng's rear wing crashed.

Mike Rockenfeller with the best time

Others, on the other hand, concentrated on the essentials and got along very well with the conditions. Mike Rockenfeller set the fastest time in the Audi year-old car with 1.36.999 minutes. Timo Scheider improved compared to the previous day and finished second behind his DTM brand colleague, only a thousandth of a second behind.

Martin Tomczyk should also have been pleased with his third place initially. First. Because the Rosenheimer achieved the fastest sector time under the yellow flag and is therefore placed five places back on the starting grid.

Spengler only to 15

DTM rookie Miguel Molina showed at Hockenheim that he too gets along very well with his Audi A4 DTM in the rain. With a gap of 0.524 seconds, he was fourth. Mattias Ekström also made a leap forward and landed in fifth position. However, the Swedes were separated by almost a second from the fastest time.

His Abt colleague Oliver Jarvis moved up to sixth place. Behind that, there was already a gap of one second on the DTM leader. Gary Paffett took seventh place, exactly one second behind. Maro Engel qualified eighth again in the top ten. Title chaser Paul di Resta was 1.338 seconds off Rockenfeller in ninth place. Ralf Schumacher completes the top ten. DTM championship leader Bruno Spengler couldn't get past 15th place.
