D he calendar is up. In 2018, the DTM is driving five race weekends in Germany and five abroad. The German routes are the same as last season. At the start and at the season finale, the touring car series will make a guest appearance in Hockenheim. The DTM year begins at the beginning of May and ends in mid-October. The DTM also holds its German races at the Lausitzring, Norisring and the Nürburgring.

The races outside of Germany are spread across Budapest, Zandvoort, Brands Hatch, Misano and Spielberg. This means that the DTM is returning to Brands Hatch, where it had already driven between 2006 and 2013. This time, however, you will not use the almost two-kilometer short route, called the Indy Circuit, but the 3.915-kilometer GP route. Between 1964 and 1986, Formula 1 took part on the traditional circuit.

DTM is back in Italy for the first time since 2010

The second new venue on the 2018 DTM calendar is Misano. The course on the Adriatic Riviera, which was rebuilt in 2006, is mainly used for the MotoGP motorcycle world championship. In addition, there is also the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup and the European Truck Racing Championship on the 4.2-kilometer circuit. The DTM last came to Italy in 2010. At that time, the race was still contested at the Adria International Raceway. On the other hand, Russia flies off the racing calendar. That is less because of the track than because of the location of the Moscow Raceway in the Russian pampas.

“Five events in Germany, five abroad - the DTM is becoming even more international without forgetting its German roots “, Says DTM boss Gerhard Berger. 'With England and Italy, two important markets of the premium manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes will be back on the DTM map in 2018.'
