A udi, BMW and Mercedes have their new GT3 - Projectiles for the coming season already presented. Now there is another GT racer from the motherland of the automobile: The Corvette C7 GT3-R from Callaway Competition was completely developed and built in Leingarten in Baden-Württemberg.

Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R was created in In-house development

The most important loan from the US street athlete for the racing version is the chassis, which has been reinforced by a safety cell. Otherwise only the lower wishbones and the upper half of the rear of the vehicle and the taillights were reused. The rest has been completely redesigned.

Thanks to numerous technology partners, the small racing team was finally able to put the mammoth project on its wheels after two years of working. Most of the aluminum parts and the carbon shell were produced in-house. The technicians are particularly proud of the rear wing, the profile of which 'impresses with its high level of innovation'.

GT3 Corvette with up to 600 hp

A 6.2 liter V8 heart beats under the hood of the 1,240 kilogram carbon fiber racer. The suction engine was taken over from its predecessor and, depending on the diameter of the air restrictor, brings it to 550 to 600 hp and a torque of 640 to 680 Nm. The power is distributed to the rear axle via a sequential 6-speed transmission from X-Trac. The car is shifted using steering wheel paddles.

The car was built according to the regulations and safety requirements of the FIA and can therefore be used internationally. It is not yet known exactly where the Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R will start in the 2016 debut season. A price for the aggressively drawn GT racer was also not mentioned.
