The selection of drivers is top-class : In addition to the regular works pilots Jörg Müller, Dirk Werner, Augusto Farfus, Dirk Müller and Andy Priaulx, the Munich team has secured Uwe Alzen and Dirk Adorf. In addition, the experienced veteran Pedro Lamy is now also part of the factory squad for the Nürburgring.

Even if nobody at BMW says it like that: The goal of the Schnitzer team at the Nürburgring is nothing less than the 24h overall victory. The new customer racing car from BMW Motorsport will probably not be able to compete for that, because it was christened just a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, one should keep an eye on the GT3 racing car based on the BMW Z4, because strong teams want to attack the Nürburgring with the sleek coupé: The Schubert team has two BMW Z4 GT3 a: Richard Göransson, Stian Sørlie, Jörg Viebahn and Claudia Hürtgen drive one car. Patrick Söderlund, Edward Sandström and Marko Hartung take their seats in the second GT3 racing car.

Z and Dörr Motorsport will use another Z4. Franz Engstler is also considering a 24-hour deployment, 'but only if I receive the car by the beginning of April,' says Engstler. The new GT3 runabout from BMW has a four-liter V8 engine from the BMW M3, which should produce 480 hp in racing trim. The vehicle weighs 1200 kilograms and is shifted via a sequential six-speed gearbox.
