ALMS: Jaguar XKR GT celebrates European premiere

D he 550 hp racing model was created in collaboration between technicians and designers of the Jaguar Development center in England as well as engineers from the RSR emergency team from East Lansing (Michigan, USA). Team principal Paul Gentilozzi will be one of the drivers and start in the GT2 class of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The new XKR will be baptized by fire on March 20th at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The series XKR became a thoroughbred racing car over the winter. The Jaguar XKR received steel reinforcements for the aluminum monocoque and a roll cage. The output of the 5.0 liter supercharged V8 has been increased to 550 hp at 7,000 rpm, the top speed is around 290 km /h.

Jaguar XKR GT has already completed two races in the ALMS

RSR has already used the big cat at the 'Petit Le Mans' in Road Atlanta and at the season finale in Laguna Seca. The Jaguar XKR has to pass the dress rehearsal for the new year on February 22nd and 23rd at the official ALMS test days in Sebring.
