New Skoda Superb (2023) as a sedan and station wagon

Skoda will be launching the fourth generation of the Superb in 2023, and now the mid-size model has been launched in combi and sedan versions.

The current "3V" series has been on the market since mid-2015 and is produced at the Skoda plant in Kvasiny. With the generation change, the production site also changes. From 2023, the Superb will roll off the assembly line at the Bratislava plant together with the upcoming VW Passat.

Superb also as a sedan

In contrast to the VW Passat, which will also only be available as a station wagon from 2023, the Superb will continue to be available in two body styles - as a sedan and a station wagon. However, the new generation is only slightly evolved. The middle class is still based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB) from VW and is growing in size, similar to the larger Octavia. The Czechs are still testing the technical components under the body of the current model with light camouflage at the front and rear. Apparently they give the front apron a new outfit with vertical air intakes and also a redesigned grille flanked by narrower headlights with LED technology.

For the interior there is an update for the equipment versions and the materials. It remains with the digital cockpit and the infotainment screen on the dashboard with the modular infotainment kit 3 (MIB) already used in the model change, including voice assistant and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration.

Superb again as a PHEV

On the drive side, the Superb uses the well-known engine configurations, which will increase in terms of performance and decrease in terms of consumption. On the petrol side, the 1.5-liter TSI with currently 150 hp forms the basis, followed by the two-liter with 190 and 280 hp - the latter is designed as all-wheel drive. Diesel is still available in the Superb. Here are the two two-liter TDI at the start, which currently make 150 and 200 hp. As a plug-in version, Skoda couples a 1.4-liter petrol engine with an electric drive to around 218 system hp. A larger battery may allow an electric range of more than 71 kilometers. By the way: Like the Passat, the Superb is no longer offered with a manual transmission .

The prices for the two Superb models should increase moderately. Currently, the sedan is in the price list from 39,260 euros, the station wagon costs from 40,260 euros.

Conclusion

Skoda will be launching a new generation of the Superb from 2023 - but the Czech bestseller will only be gently evolved. It remains with the two body types sedan and station wagon as well as the well-known petrol and diesel engines. The plug-in version is also available again, probably with more steam and more electric range.
