The Mercedes C 300 d as a T-model for 53,967 euros: We show what the car costs in everyday life and how much fuel it consumes.
The C-Class is a bestseller for Mercedes. The mid-range model has now been extensively renovated and shares a lot of technology with the S-Class. We tested the C-Class in the large diesel variant C 300 d as a station wagon. Here you can find out what the car consumes and how high the maintenance costs really are in everyday life.
Our test consumption
According to the manufacturer, the mid-range station wagon consumes 5.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. Our test consumption shows that the Mercedes is actually a little thirstier with 6.9 liters. At the pump, you pay 10.41 euros for fuel for a 100-kilometer journey. In the cautiously driven Eco mode, we achieve an economical 4.8 liters; when it comes to sporty work, 8.9 liters flow through the vehicle's veins. The fuel costs are calculated using the daily updated fuel price on our partner portal mehr-tanken.de (accessed on 10/14/21 /1.509 euros per liter of diesel).
Monthly maintenance costs
The cost of fuel for a 100-kilometer journey is between 7.24 euros (Eco) and 13.43 euros (Sport). Then there is the annual vehicle tax of 306 euros and according to Allianz Direct liability insurance costs of around 307 euros per year. For partial and fully comprehensive insurance, 371 and 821 euros are due. If you drive 15,000 kilometers a year, you have to budget for monthly costs of 305 euros. At 30,000 kilometers, the amount increases to 539 euros. Added to this is the loss of value.
How to test
The auto motor und sport test consumption consists of three differently weighted consumption runs. So-called “commuter consumption” accounts for 70 percent. This is a journey from home to work, which averages 21 kilometers. A particularly economical lap of around 275 kilometers is included in the rating with 15 percent. The remaining 15 percent is accounted for by the sports driver lap. The length is roughly the same as the eco lap, but the route includes a larger proportion of motorway and thus higher speeds on average. The basis for calculating the fuel costs is always the price quoted on the "more tanken" portal on the day the article was created.
The monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear part costs and vehicle taxes assuming an annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 kilometers without loss of value. The calculation is based on the test consumption, a three-year holding period, no-claims class SF12 for liability and fully comprehensive insurance with Allianz Direct, including discounts for garage parkers and the restriction to certain drivers (accident-free/15,000 km per year/resident in the postcode area 70174/not under 21/partner driver older than 25 years).
Conclusion
In the auto motor and sport test consumption, the Mercedes C 300 d station wagon for 53,967 euros with 265 hp has an average value of 6.9 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. This means that the fuel costs over this distance are 10.41 euros. The monthly maintenance costs are 305 euros (15,000 km annual mileage) or 539 euros (30,000 km annual mileage).
